2025 was a momentous year for the Association. The year started with our members meal and AGM and a change of chairman. The highlight of the year was our twinning visit to Saint Georges in May. Two fund raising events were held: Call my wine bluff in March, and our annual quiz in October. We also held our annual members barbeque.

End of an era!
After 12 years serving as our chairman, Patrick Binks stood down at the AGM and handed the baton over to Keith Hayward.
Patrick has done an incredible job as our chairman over the years. To say thank you for all his hard work Patrick was presented with a commemorative picture showing the Association’s logo together with two naval flags reflecting Patrick’s time in the navy. The flags symbolise “well done”.
Patrick was also given a book of memories in which the members individually wrote messages to Patrick, and added some pictures of his time as chairman. Some of our French friends also contributed to the book.
Finally Patrick was given a book of the prettiest villages in France to explore. Although stepping down as chairman, Patrick will remain on the committee to assist Keith in his new role.
The evening concluded with a 2 course meal followed by our first Grand Prize draw with 14 excellent prizes.
In March we held a very entertaining fund raiser called “Call my Wine bluff”.
A panel of 3 so called “experts” described different wines. Each team, after sampling the wines, had to guess which expert was telling the truth.
A fun and enjoyable evening with lots of laughter, good wine and good food which raised £800 towards our next twinning visit.
David and Jeanette Power held an interesting and thought provoking quiz in October with 9 teams competing for the annual DTA quiz trophy, which was won by Margaret White’s team after a close contest.
A delicious fish and chips supper was supplied by “Denmead's finest fish and chips”, and the quiz raised £519 for DTA funds. A very enjoyable and entertaining evening.
